EAST COAST LIGHTNING EQUIPMENT RETAINS ARCHITECTURAL CONSULTANT

Winsted, CT, August 12, 2015: East Coast Lightning Equipment, Inc. (ECLE) has retained Michael Chusid as its architectural and marketing consultant. Jennifer Morgan, Secretary/Treasurer of ECLE, explains, “Chusid is helping us educate architects and builders about the importance of lightning protection. He is widely recognized as an authority in building materials and for his effectiveness in explaining technical issues to the design and construction communities.”

Chusid is an Architect, a Fellow of the Construction Specifications Institute, and a Certified Construction Specifier. He is the author of over a hundred papers on innovative building products, a frequent speaker at construction industry conferences, and has more than thirty years experience as a marketing and technical consultant. His work has received numerous commendations from the Construction Specifications Institute and the Construction Writers Association.

He says, “The risks of damage due to lightning have increased as a result of climate change and the widespread use of digital electronics in buildings. It is important for architects to realize that lightning protection should be an intrinsic part of designing a high performance building envelope.” He adds that he is especially excited by, “ECLE’s willingness to collaborate with designers to develop lightning protection schemes that are compatible with contemporary architectural styles.”

To date, Chusid has written ECLE’s guide specification and an article explaining how to estimate the cost of lightning protection during the early stages of the building design process. He and Jennifer Morgan are co-authors of “Lightning Protection and the Building Envelope,” the cover story in the August 2015 issue of Construction Specifier Magazine.

Since most lightning protection installers are small businesses, Morgan believes, “Our effort to educate designers will be good for the entire lightning protection industry and will provide our customers with promotional resources to use in their own regions.”

East Coast Lightning Equipment, Inc. – ECLE (ecle.biz) is the leading producer of UL-listed lightning protection products. The family-owned business was founded in 1984, is based in Winsted, CT, and manufacturers all of its products in the USA.
