Since Zaha Hadid, one of the most celebrated architects of our time, died in March, many people have reflected on her bold and innovative designs. We would like to add one more tribute; she was able to integrate even small details into her projects without detracting from her grand schemes.
This is evident in how she treated lightning protection systems on her buildings. Air terminals on top of her buildings are expressed simply, elegantly, and confidently. They neither detract from the beauty of the buildings nor call attention to themselves. Although barely visible from normal viewing distances, the air terminals are not just part of the building, but part of the architecture.
